I guess there was an air of inevitably about
today…
Having gone on about how well the tips had been doing
against my various different metrics, you could have bet good money that The Big
Freeze would contradict everything I had said…
Weak in the betting (there is no way on earth he should
have been a 12/1 shot – which was his BSP), he was held up out the back, never
jumping particularly well – and pulled up with a circuit to go…
Maybe connections found a different way to pay for their
diesel..!
The race was won by Merlins Wish, who continued on his
upward curve.
He jumped well and had no issue with either the trip or
the ground. He could be one for one of the lesser Nationals, later in the
season…
Over at Fairyhouse, Getoutwheyoucan, did a fair bit
better (though not well enough to collect).
Unlike The Big Freeze, he was strong in the betting (even
in the face of huge support for the favourite, Not for Changing).
He ran a decent race as well. Just in behind the leaders,
he was always a bit keen – and ultimately, he paid the price, fading up the
straight.
He needs dropping back in trip. I wondered if that might
be the case, last time – and I’m now pretty sure it is.
Hopefully today will only prove money lent…
Hopefully today will only prove money lent…
The race was won by Not for Changing, who ran down Not
for Burning in the final 100 yards, thereby providing Paul Carberry with a
double on his return to the saddle…
Over at Warwick Don Pooleoni was a bit too keen in the
opener and didn’t get home as a consequence.
Whist in the second race on the card, No Duffer lost an
early position and was eventually pulled up.
No real joy anywhere then…
I have a bit of an issue tomorrow in that I’m going on a
school trip !
I will be setting off at 9:00 – and out of the house all
day.
This won’t affect me issuing UK tips (any will be sent
out, bang on 8:30) – though it will mean that I can’t issue tips for any of the
Irish races…
I will also need to produce the write-up this
evening.
As a consequence, it might not be quite as ‘on the
button’ as normal – for that, you have my apologies in advance…
