No joy this afternoon – and no excuses either…
Freckle Face ran a reasonable race to finish fifth – he
just bumped into 4 that were better than him on the day.
In truth, that was always a possibility. Certainly, 3 of
his rivals had the potential to be decent animals – part of the rationale behind
the bet today, was a hope that they wouldn’t all perform – but alas, they did
!!
As for Freckle Face himslef, then I wouldn’t give up on
him just yet…
He may be a bit limited (I did hope that he might show
improved form today, on his second run over fences) but he has some ability and
if found the right race, he is probably capable of landing a small
prize…
Of the mentions, the Union Jack D’Ycy took the term
‘drifter’ to new levels…
5/1 early, he was a 25/1 shot on Betfair 5 mins before
the off !
There was little money for him late – but that kind of
drift is rarely accompanied by a victory.
He showed some promise though, and will be of more interest next time out…

In the following race, Lancetto tried to keep tabs on
Oscar hill - but failed…
In fairness, Oscar Hill is probably a well handicapped
horse at the moment, so Lancetto (once again) lost little in defeat.
He could do with a change of luck though…
In the Finale, the subtle signs served us well, and Tara
Mist was a tenacious winner…
As a full sister to the useful mare, Mickie, she almost
certainly has a future over obstacles – though it would come as no great
surprise if she was able to record a further bumper victory or two, before that
point…
At Catterick, both Holywell and Categorical got turned
over – which, in truth, wasn’t the biggest surprise ever…
On to tomorrow then…
TVB.
