No joy with either of the tips this afternoon…
Street Runner ran well at Down Royal – but just wasn’t
good enough.
Whether it was because he still wasn’t quite 100% fit -
or because he is a little bit high in the handicap, it’s difficult to
say…
I might be prepared to give him a chance next time –
provided the ground was quick and the opposition modest…
Tullintain on the other hand, didn’t run so well at
Wexford.
He set off quickly, but Foritsa was always cantering in
behind him.
My main concern over Foritsa was whether he would be fit
enough to do himself justice after 3 months off the course (and coming from a
small stable).
Well, the market said he would be – and the market was
right !
He took up the running at the third last, and whilst it
briefly looked as if he might get overhauled between the final 2 fences, he was
pulling away after the last.
My guess is that he can win again this season - and possibly in a better class…
Tullintain meanwhile, faded out of contention over the
final few fences - it would be difficult to back him next time out, following
todays run.
Of the mentions: then Carpincho was untidy over a few
fences and just didn’t look good enough. His decline appears to be quite
steep.
Hand on Bach ran well however; leading round the home
turn, he only faded out of contention over the final 2 flights.
He should come on plenty for his first run in 3 months –
and if is dropped in the handicap for this performance, could be very
interesting next time out…
The first day back after Cheltenham was never going to be
easy…
Hopefully it will have helped get my eye back in for
tomorrow !
