Review of the day

Interest in todays race, effectively came to an end at the 5th last hurdle…
St Maxime made a shocking blunder at the obstacle – with his jockey doing very well to stay in the saddle.
He did briefly get back into contention rounding the home turn, but had nothing left to give, when the pressure was applied.
It’s impossible to know where he might have ended up if he’d not made the mistake – so we’ll just have to write it off as one of those things…

There was no joy for any of the mentions either…

Some Tikket already looked beaten, when a fall by one of his rivals caused him to swerve and unseat his jockey at the third last…

Cootamundra ran pretty much as I expected him to.
He travelled nicely behind the leaders – and continued to travel nicely as they battled their way to the line.
He’s a lad !

Rafi De Triana also ran pretty much as I expected.
He had a chance jumping the last, but it looked to me as if he didn’t want it quite as much as the winner.
Maybe I’m being harsh again – but there is doubt in my mind over him and finishing a close second today, was hardly going to remove it !

Zaidpour also finished second in the Boyne hurdle…
He looked like he was hating the heavy ground for most of the race – but then put in a spirited finish that suggested the heavy ground was just what he wanted…
I think he is now just trying to mess with peoples minds ;)

Finally, My Tent or Yours cruised home at Kempton in a manner befitting the third favourite for the Champion hurdle.
Game on !

Until Friday evening then…

TVB.
