No joy this afternoon – and not a
lot to say, either…
Smart Ruler ran a reasonable race
in the handicap hurdle.
It did look as if the ground was
a bit softer than he would have liked – though whether that cost him the race is
a different matter…
The winner was unexposed and won
well – I suspect that Smart Ruler simply isn’t quite that good.
The handicap chase was a much
more disappointing affair, however…
I had quite high hopes for both
Dorset Naga and Rudemeister, but neither ever figured…
Dorset Naga ran no sort of a race
and you do wonder why connections chose to bring him on a near 1000 mile round
trip.
Rudemeister ran a little better –
but only a little. He was hampered by a faller at the first fence - but then
proceeded to consistently jump to his left (not good when you are going right
handed). He was beaten before the field reached the home straight – and, like
Dorset Naga, was eventually pulled up.
All very disappointing…
Hopefully tomorrow will bring
better.
TVB.
